In 2008 Deneka left the University to pursue and become the first Moodle Partner company in Scotland, where she was Managing Director until 2022. Advancing to a high level position as Senior Instructional Designer at the Centre for Teaching and Learning at Glasgow University, Deneka spent the next 5 years as part of a team engaged directly with the rollout of Moodle across the University, whilst developing close relationships with Scottish colleges as they did the same. She moved to Glasgow to do her PhD at Glasgow University in 1999 and secured a position with the Distance and Learning Centre in 2002 where she first came across (the then new piece of software called) Moodle and met Martin Dougiamas (now a longtime friend). Deneka is a passionate and skilled online learning expert who began her career in the field whilst doing her Masters Degree in Canada. ![]() is the brain child of Dr Deneka MacDonald.
